Rules & Regulations
The MJGA events were developed to enhance the junior golf experience in the Manhattan area and are designed for beginning to intermediate golfers, to help them develop tournament skills.
The MJGA events are open to any junior golfer in the area from ages 5-18 who have not started college.
Junior golfers must pay a registration fee of $60 at the beginning of the season. This fee will include an MJGA gift and entry to all MJGA events. At the events the junior golfer will receive golf, range balls, Goodcents 6" sandwich, chips and a drink.
All Players will play 9 holes, unless you choose 4 holes for your child 5-7. Each event will start at 7:30am with tee times. These tee times will be provided to you no later than the Wednesday before the tournament. Sign up for each tournament is available two weeks before the event.
The golfer must be signed up by 5pm the Friday before the event to be included in the tournament.
Your junior golfer will be split into groups according to their age as of June 1st. Boys and Girls will be broken into separate divisions by age for each event. The age groups are as follows:
5-7 (4 holes), 5-7 (9 holes), 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-18.
Teeing areas are based on age. As a general rule, ages 5-7 will play from 100 yards, ages 8-9 will play 9 holes from 150 yards, ages 10-11 will play 9 holes from 200 yards, ages 12-13 will play 9 holes from the red tees, ages 14-18 boys will play 9 holes from the white tees, and ages 14-18 girls will play 9 holes from the red tees.
Maximum score on each hole is double par. For example, if the hole is a par 4 and your junior golfer has already hit their ball 8 times, they will pick it up and will put an 8 with a circle around it on the score card.
Golfers 11 & under are required to have a parent or chaperone with them during the entire event. They are also allowed to be their caddy for the purpose of increasing pace of play only. These tournaments are not intended to be instructional. Our hope is that the adult with each child will help increase the pace of play by teaching these juniors golf etiquette.
Parents are allowed to ride in a cart to follow their golfer. The cart may be used to help shuttle players from green to the next tee box only. With the exception of the 5-7 age division, they can ride if it increases pace of play. Golf cart rental fee is $10.00 payable to each golf course facility on a first come first serve basis.
